Cardi’s Furniture and Mattresses has been a household name for almost 100 years. Their rich history, family values, and customer service makes them one-of-a-kind in the furniture business.
It all started in 1901, when Nick, Ron and Pete’s (NiRoPe) grandparents left the small town of Itri, Italy, in search for a better life. They settled in Cranston, Rhode Island, and opened up the first Cardi’s, a general store. Nicholas Cardi Sr. took over the business, and decided to expand and include appliances and carpeting in their sales. NiRoPe had been around the store since they were children, doing odds and ends to help the business run smoothly. It wasn’t until the 1970’s when NiRoPe joined the family business full time.
Before retiring, Nicholas Cardi Sr. had the idea to reinvent Cardi’s, and turn it into a superstore. In 1989, Cardi’s 24-acre Swansea facility opens… But the growth doesn’t stop there. Since the grand opening of the Swansea facility, NIROPE has opened stores all across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, and they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!
