It’s going to be a scorcher the next few days! A “Heat Advisory” has been issued and runs through tomorrow evening and may be extended into the weekend.

Today the heat index approached 100 and will be in the low 100s tomorrow as both the temperatures and the humidity continue to soar.

Overnight tonight we will be on the warm side once again with lows dropping down into the mid-70s. We’ll start the evening off clear but as we head past midnight patchy fog and scattered clouds will start to develop.

As we head into Friday, we’ll be keeping an eye on a weak cold front that will be approaching southern New England and then stalling out over the area on Saturday, acting as the focus for scattered showers and thunderstorms. The risk of storms in our area is low through tonight and early tomorrow, but chances go up Friday afternoon and evening.

These storms will be hit or miss, but for those communities that do get them, expect some heavy downpours. If you have outdoor plans on Saturday, you’ll need to be prepared for a few pop-up showers and thunderstorms again in the afternoon.

If you’re looking for signs of change, look to the middle of next week. That’s when the heat and humidity finally start to wane. Until then, the stifling hot and humid weather continues through the weekend.
