Heat Advisory Starts Monday, Tropical Storm May Head to Gulf Coast

It’s back.  I am talking about the heat and humidity of course.  A heat advisory starts on Monday afternoon and continues into Tuesday.  Feel like temperatures will be in the mid 90s to around 100 at times.

The coast may not be quite as bad with afternoon breezes from the southwest, but it will feel quite hot across the board.  It doesn’t look QUITE as bad as last week.  However, for many of you that have the day off, relaxing in the pool or at the beach seems like a good plan.

The high heat and humidity likely continue into Tuesday, which is not great timing for the first school day of the week.  A back door cold front may provide a little relief late Tuesday into Wednesday, but the real drop in humidity and heat does not look to arrive until late Friday or Saturday.

Watching Florida and Gulf Coast

The National Hurricane Center forecasts that this disturbance will become Tropical Storm Gordon over the next few days…and maybe even sooner.

Parts of Florida will likely receive flooding rainfall and gusty winds.  The Gulf coast will have to be monitored closely because the disturbance could strengthen as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico.  The computer models have become fairly accurate with storm path and direction, but they can still struggle with storm intensity.  We will keep you posted on the developments. -Pete Mangione
