From Chief Meteorologist Tony Petrarca,

As of 11 pm Monday Night, Florence was still a category 4 storm with winds of 140 mph moving west north west. Major threat continues to be focused on South Carolina, North Carolina  and Virginia by Thursday and Friday. While a direct hit is not expected here in southern New England, the storm still needs to be watched closely.  We expect building  waves, dangerous rip currents and large offshore swells next several days along our coast, but local impacts on land are not anticipated at this time.
