Woonsocket is canceling a controversial $1.1 million land deal after the mayor’s unilateral decision to buy the property from a former business associate drew the ire of local officials who argued she had violated city law.

It will be a fan fest at Gillette Stadium on Saturday for the Army-Navy game, bringing thousands of people to Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Providence officials said the city will host roughly 3,000 Navy midshipmen, along with alumni, family and fans leading up to "America's Game."

A Breeze Airways flight on its way to Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport on Tuesday was diverted because of a fight between two passengers. Rhode Islanders can now see the Independent Man up close. Gov. Dan McKee unveiled the 11-foot statue Wednesday morning on the R.I. State House floor.
