PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The state is closing a stretch of highway in East Providence to demolish a bridge. However, the work is expected to take less time than originally thought – two nights instead of three.
The closure will allow crews to demolish the structurally deficient Parkway Ramp Bridge.
We’ve updated our schedule for I-195 overnight closures. I-195 West will be closed tomorrow night and I-195 East will be closed on Wednesday night. Closures are midnight to 4 a.m. both nights. See: https://t.co/MfDizHuJz2— RIDOT (@RIDOTNews) April 30, 2018

RIDOT says closures will be in place from midnight through 4 a.m. when traffic is the lightest.
The schedule depends on the weather and is subject to change.
During the closures, traffic on I-195 West will use Exit 6 to Broadway, and then follow a detour route using Waterman Avenue, Taunton Avenue and John Street before returning to Taunton Avenue and using the on-ramp to I-195.
Motorists on I-195 East will need to take Exit 5 to Warren Avenue. The detour follows Warren Avenue eastbound to the Broadway on-ramp to return to I-195.
RIDOT said the construction is part of the ongoing RhodeWorks project. The agency is working on five structurally deficient bridges that span I-195
