PawSox officials tour proposed Worcester ballpark site

Pawtucket, R.I. (WPRI) – As rumors swirl the PawSox are leaving for Worcester, team leadership confirmed they toured a potential stadium site in Worcester on Tuesday.

PawSox officials also confirmed they met with Pawtucket city officials at Slater Mill, the proposed R.I. spot, on Monday.

In a statement, the team said, “Both visits are part of the club’s ongoing due diligence efforts, ahead of a stadium decision.”

A team representative confirmed to Eyewitness News that the PawSox chairman, Larry Lucchino, was among those who met with Worcester City officials Tuesday where they toured the spot, in Worcester’s Canal District.

This comes days after the team applied to trademark, “WooSox,” the speculated name of the team should they move and re-brand.

There’s no word on the specifics of Worcester’s proposal.

PawSox representatives say they don’t plan on announcing any decisions until the current season wraps up.
