FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Coming off of a successful win against the Indianapolis Colts, the New England Patriots are now focusing their attention on their next matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.
The Patriots are now back into their routine after a short week, playing the Miami Dolphins last Sunday and the Colts Thursday.
The team will now welcome the Chiefs to Gillette Stadium Sunday night. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw his 500th touchdown pass to wide receiver Josh Gordon against the Colts. The team is hoping to hand the Chiefs their first loss this season.
The Chiefs, led by young quarterback Patrick Mahomes, are coming off of a big win against the Jacksonville Jaguars and are currently undefeated, giving them the lead in the AFC West. The Patriots are also leading in their conference with a record of 3-2 in the AFC East.
While the Chiefs’ defense isn’t thought as highly of as their offense, they’re still one of the best defenses in the league, especially on third down.
This week, the Patriots game will overlap with ALCS Game 1 Sunday night, when the Boston Red Sox will face the Houston Astros. The Boston Bruins were also supposed to overlap, but the hockey team moved up the start time of their game to avoid the conflict.
For Boston fans struggling with what game to watch, Patriots defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. offered some advice.
Deatrich Wise Jr. to @ButchStearns…advice on what Boston sports fans should do about the #RedSox and #Patriots playing at the same time Sunday night 😂 @wisehog94 @wpri12 pic.twitter.com/7duDB5oOr0— Ruthie Polinsky (@ruthiepolinsky) October 11, 2018
“You should have two televisions set up at the same time – or at least your phone – one could be on the TV and the other on your phone,” Wise Jr. explained. “Or just press the last button and keep going back and forth.”
When asked how he would watch both games, he said he would watch the Patriots game and check the Red Sox game between commercials.
“That’s just my opinion, as a guy who plays on the team,” Wise Jr. said.
The Patriots will face the Chiefs during Sunday Night Football with kick off at 8:20 p.m.
