FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Coming off a tough loss on the road against the Tennessee Titans, the New England Patriots took to the field to practice Wednesday before heading into their bye week.

The team practiced fully padded on Wednesday, their sole practice before heading into the bye week. The long weekend will give the team a chance to relax and focus on the games ahead.

Quarterback Tom Brady said he’s hoping the time off will give them a chance to reflect on where they can improve.

“I feel like the bye week always comes at a good time,” Brady said. “We’ve had a lot of weeks of football and we’ve got some really important ones coming up. So hopefully we can learn from the things that have happened over the course of the season and use them to our advantage moving forward.”

Tight end Dwayne Allen suffered a knee injury on Sunday and is expected to miss a few weeks as he recovers, but will not need surgery. Meanwhile, cornerback Duke Dawson was activated off injured reserve for the team’s next matchup.

Coach Bill Belichick said the team will not only rest during their bye week, but they will also work on key fundamentals moving forward with the rest of the season.

“It’s a balance between rest and improved fundamentals, improved execution in the things that we need to do better,” Belichick said. “I don’t think that we’re going to get that by just sitting around and resting, but rest is important and the health and energy of the team is important, so we’ll try to balance those things and do the best we can with our opportunity to maximize our time efficiency and the way we use it.”

Following the bye week, the Patriots will face off against the New York Jets at Metlife Stadium on Nov. 25 at 1 p.m.
