Tammi Reiss introduced as new URI Head Women’s Basketball Coach

College

Kingston, RI (WPRI) – Tammi Reiss was officially introduced as the new head coach of the URI Women’s Basketball program on Thursday. Reiss spent the last four years as an assistant coach at Syracuse, and helped guide the Orange to the NCAA Tournament in all four years. Prior to Syracuse, she spent time coaching at Cal State Fullerton and San Diego State. Reiss played college basketball at Virginia where she was an All American. She played in the WNBA for the Utah Starzz.

Reiss hopes to turn around a URI program which has struggled, winning just nine games with fifty losses the last two seasons.

Reiss replaces Daynia La-Force who served as the women’s basketball coach from 2014 through the end of the 2018 season.
