EXETER, R.I. (WPRI) — With Halloween right around the corner, Rhode Show co-host Michaela Johnson took a trip to Exeter to visit the grave of Mercy Brown.

Several members of the Brown family contracted tuberculosis in the 1890s, and it was believed to be the work of the undead. When Mercy’s father decided to dig up the bodies to investigate, Mercy’s was found to be less decomposed than the others. He also noticed had blood in her heart, and that her hair and nails had grown.

To try and prevent his son Edwin from getting sick, the father then cut our Mercy’s heart, burned it, mixed the ashes with water, and had him drink it.Watch the video above to learn more about the legend and see if you can hear from beyond the grave with the help of DLH Paranormal Investigations.
