Meteorologist shares tips for safety during extreme weather

Last year, we saw enormous storms like Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria tear paths of death and destruction across the Caribbean and the U.S.

Every day there is news coverage of record floods, earthquakes, crippling blizzards and tornadoes hitting unusual parts of the nation.

September is National Preparedness Month, sponsored by the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency, and it comes at a time when the incidence of extreme weather events seems to be growing.

We spoke with network television meteorologist Bonnie Schneider for tips on keeping your family safe during extreme weather.
