AARP Rhode Island fought for the CARE Act to help family caregivers when their loved ones go into the hospital and as they transition home.
The CARE Act requires hospitals to:
- Record your name on the medical record of your loved one
- Inform you when your loved one is to be discharged to another facility or back home
- Give you live or recorded demonstration of the medical tasks you will need to perform at home such as medication management, injections and wound care.
