Ashley Erling brings us “Eye on RI” featuring local upcoming events!

Gaspee Days- Since 1965, the Gaspee Days Committee has continued its efforts to preserve, promote, and share Rhode Island’s revolutionary history with the community – and what better way to do that than with over 50 years of our Gaspee Days Parade that combines elements of the past with the sparkling community of the present? Each year, folks crowd along a two-mile stretch of Narragansett Parkway anxiously awaiting the march of the parade. Be it the fife and drums corps, the fire trucks, or the Shriners in their miniature cars, everyone has a favorite to look forward to!

Bacon & Beer Fest- The fesival is back for year 2 of this unique food and beer pairing event at the Steel Yard in Providence RI. 25+ local restaurants create their favorite bacon inspired dish carefully paired with a beer from 25+ world class breweries! You will get to vote on your favorite pairing! There will be a “People’s Choice” award and a Celebrity judge’s award for the best Bacon/Beer pairing.

RI National Guard Open House Air Show-  The Rhode Island National Guard Open House and Air Show is taking place this weekend in Quonset. Over the years, the Air Show has raised more than $2 million for Hasbro Children’s Hospital. It’s an annual tradition that not only raises money for a good cause, but also gives attendees a glimpse into what the National Guard is all about. This year’s show will include the Navy Blue Angels, Sean D. Tucker, Michael Goulian, the Geico Skytypers, Ace Maker Air Shows, Mark Murphy flying the P-51 Mustang, and the Shockwave Jet Truck. The U.S. Air Force F-35 Heritage Flight Team is scheduled to make its first performance in Rhode Island.

PVDFest- For the fourth year, Mayor Jorge O. Elorza, the City of Providence’s Department of Art, Culture + Tourism and founding creative partner FirstWorks will host PVDFest, Providence’s signature art festival, June 7-10, 2018.
