Nearly a decade ago, Rhode Island lawmakers passed the Safe School Act, aimed at protecting your children from being bullied.
But the Target 12 Investigators have uncovered that the important statute has not been followed to the letter of the law.
When the investigation first began, only one of the state’s 34 school districts had its bullying policy posted on its district homepage. Since Target 12 began asking questions, several districts have made improvements but most districts are still not in compliance.
Target 12 Investigator Walt Buteau brings the findings to lawmakers and a local superintendent who helped crafted the law, as well as a local martial arts instructor who helps families cope with bullying.
