EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — As the Rhode Island Interscholastic League high school varsity football season kicks off, Eyewitness Sports is committing to not only covering the games, but also finding new angles and getting the pulse of the fans.
Friday Night Blitz is a weekly recap show with highlights from around the league, score updates on WPRI.com, and a new social media tie-in where fans are invited to share comments, photos, and video by using the hashtag #Blitz12.
The Blitz will also showcase a “Game of the Week.” Week 1 will feature the matchup between South Kingstown and West Warwick.
The Eyewitness Sports team, led by Yianni Kourakis and Mark Dondero, will be roving the state each Friday night and throughout the week to capture the action and storylines, bringing them to you through the new show, WPRI.com, and social media.High school football fans are encouraged to use #Blitz12 on Instagram and Twitter to help tell their team’s story – some of these social media posts will be featured on air in the show. On Facebook, fans should post/share on the WPRI 12 page.

In addition to the highlights on the field, Friday Night Blitz will also go inside the huddle by having one of the coaches mic’d up each week and feature other aspects of the schools’ programs, such as the “Band of the Week.”Friday Night Blitz airs each Friday at 11:15 p.m. on WPRI 12.
