WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A Woonsocket woman struck by a car a week ago died at Rhode Island Hospital on Thursday, police said Monday.

Deputy Chief Michael Lemoine said 64-year-old Marian Morrow was run over after falling while crossing Clinton Street last Monday night. The driver, 21-year-old Carlos Lopez, was charged with driving on a suspended registration, Lemoine said. Lopez was also cited for driving without a license and proof of insurance.

Morrow lived at Kennedy Manor, but Lemoine said she did not use the crosswalk with newly-installed warning lights in front of the high-rise apartment building. According to Lemoine, Morrow was attempting to cross a couple hundred feet down the road closer to Cumberland Street. Lemoine said it was dark and raining at the time, and Morrow was wearing dark clothing.

Lemoine said the accident was still under investigation Monday.
