Westport police arrest nude man on the beach


WESTPORT, Mass. (WPRI) — Police in Westport have arrested a nude man on Horseneck State Beach. He has been identified as 55-year-old Paul Carmichael of Stoughton, Massachusetts.

Police say they received a call around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday from a woman who was walking on the beach with her son when a fully naked man stood up from his beach chair and approached them.

An off duty Massachusetts State Trooper spotted Carmichael and confronted him.

The suspect quickly got into a pickup truck and drove away. He was later stopped by Westport Police on Route 88 and arrested.

He now faces a felony criminal charge of open and gross lewdness.

Carmichael admitted to doing similar acts on the beach in the past.
