WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (WPRI) — Celebrations for the 70th annual Little League World Series are now underway in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The Warwick North Little League team – which will represent New England in the tournament – took part in the Grand Slam parade Wednesday night.

The parade marks the state of the World Series, which includes 16 teams from around the globe.

On Wednesday, the team was fitted for their gloves and picked out their personal bats.

Eyewitness News spoke with Manager Ken Rix on Monday about how the boys are getting ready for their national debut.

“It’s tough to put it into words, it’s a dream come true to win a district title and then if you get out of your state it’s very special,” he said. “To win New Englands and make it to the World Series, the kids are on cloud nine, it’s amazing.”

Warwick North will play their first game on Thursday at 3 p.m. against the Mid-Atlantic region champion from upstate New York. The game will be shown live on ESPN.Eyewitness Sports Reporter Mark Dondero is making the journey to Williamsport and will have live reports beginning on Thursday.
