SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (WPRI) — The Warwick North Little League team found out late Monday night who they will be facing in their game Tuesday afternoon in the Little League World Series.

The boys have a long way to go to make it to Saturday’s U.S. Championship game.

But it’s one game at a time, as they will face Iowa who lost 14-4 against Kentucky.

The Warwick North team will look to do something the previous Rhode Island state champions were not able to do — win at least two games in Williamsport.

Last year, Cranston Western lost its first game to South Carolina, 7-1.

They rallied back to beat Missouri in the second game, 6-3.

Ultimately, Cranston Western was eliminated by California, 10-3.

Two years ago, Cumberland American played better, but had the same result.

The team lost to Texas and then beat Tennessee, before losing in a heartbreaking game to Illinois, 8-7, that led to the memorable speech by Coach Dave Belisle.

Meanwhile, Warwick North will need to win three games to reach the U.S. Championship.

First pitch set for 3 p.m. on ESPN.
