CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Volunteers gathered at a local cemetery Saturday to help clean up trash and debris that has piled up over the years.

Residents and families of those buried at Oakland Cemetery on Broad Street in Cranston have been angered by the mess – and Call 12 For Action has been covering the problem since 2014.

The privately-owned cemetery has been cited repeatedly for violations and city officials said they can’t do much more than that.

Groups of volunteers joined in Saturday to help clear garbage from the gravesites.
