Vehicle goes down embankment in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Crews in Providence responded to a vehicle that went down an embankment Tuesday morning.

According to police, the incident happened around 6:20 a.m. on I-95 North when the vehicle struck the low-speed barrier and went down the emabankment and struck a tree.

Eyewitness News crews were on scene and saw the vehicle being pulled out of the embankment.

Two Rhode Island State Police vehicles were seen blocking off parts of the highway.

Police said a Cranston resident was operating the vehicle and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. 

The operator was cited for laned-roadway violations.
