URI falls to St. Louis in A-10 opener

ST. LOUIS (WPRI) – Rhode Island jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first when Mike Corin blasted his second homer of the season to give Rhody the early advantage.

Tim Caputo had led off the inning with a double down the left field line and Connor Foreman followed with a bunt single to set up Corin’s three-run shot.

The Billikens (14-7, 1-0) scored twice in the bottom of the third to get within one and took their first lead of the game at 4-3 in the fifth.

Saint Louis added another the following inning – on a leadoff home run by Josh Bunselmeyer – before tacking on three more in the eighth for the 8-3 win.
