EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Stop & Shop’s doors will remain open after union members in Southern New England voted to ratify a new contract.
According to a Twitter post by the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 328, the three-year contract includes wage increases for all employees, a fully funded pension plan and protected time-and-a-half pay on Sundays.
The deal also includes up to five weeks of paid vacation time along with free dental and vision coverage. There will also be no reduction in sick time, vacation time, personal days or paid holidays for current or future employees.
Union members voted at four meetings on Monday, including two in Foxboro, one on Martha’s Vineyard and one on Nantucket.
This comes after approximately 31,000 UFCW members walked off the job on April 11 following months of failed contract negotiations with the company.
