DARTMOUTH, Mass (WPRI) — Over 1,400 students were welcomed Sunday at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth as they moved in for the start of the school year.
Chancellor Robert Johnson greeted new students and their families as they made themselves at home. Student volunteers were on hand to help new students and their families with the move-in process.
The new, first-year students will be joined by nearly 500 transfer students and more than 200 former Mount Ida College students.
Mount Ida closed earlier this year and was sold to UMass Dartmouth.
The Class of 2022 will be officially welcomed during Convocation exercises on Tuesday in the Vietnam Veterans Peace Amphitheater.
