Two suspects questioned following Prov. stabbing, assault

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Providence Police detectives detained two “persons of interest” following a stabbing and assault in the city Saturday night.

Police were called to Chapin avenue just after 7:40pm for a report of a possible stabbing.

Providence Police Lieutenant Roger Aspinall tells Eyewitness News police found a woman with a stab wound to her back, and a male with a broken arm. Both victims were brought by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital.

Police detained two suspects at the police department for questioning following the assault.

The male suspect was released pending a further investigation, but police charged 18-year-old Evelyn Ramirez with one count of felony assault with a dangerous weapon, being the knife.

The victims conditions Sunday are unknown, but are non-life threatening.
