WASHINGTON (MEDIA GENERAL) – After a week filled with tension in the top branches of the Republican Party, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and GOP presumptive nominee Donald Trump are meeting in Washington on Thursday.
The meeting, planned for the last several weeks, brought Trump to Capitol Hill for the first time as the presumptive nominee.
Rep. Ryan started an uproar last week by announcing he wasn’t ready to back Trump yet as the nominee despite there being no other candidates still in the race.
Thursday’s meeting was met with a large media circus and a handful of pro and anti-Trump protesters.
Speaker Ryan is expected to answer questions about the House agenda and his one on one with Mr. Trump during a news conference on Thursday morning.
