Traffic stop in Providence results in drug bust, arrest


PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — One person was arrested during a drug bust early Wednesday morning.

Providence police said they pulled a vehicle over for a traffic stop but the driver fled on foot.

The suspect was caught around 1 a.m. after a brief chase in the area of Dexter and Lester Streets in the city’s West End, according to police.

Police said they found a substantial amount of drugs in the person’s car.

The suspect is facing charges of possession of narcotics and possession with the intent to deliver or manufacture.
