PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Department of Health announced Wednesday they’ve recommended that three beaches close to swimming.

High bacteria counts were found in the water at Easton’s Beach in Newport, Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown and North Kingstown Town Beach, according to health officials.

The department regularly checks the water quality at all beaches, and will reopen those three once the bacteria levels are safe for swimming.

The status of all beaches can change on a daily basis, so be sure to check our beach closings page for updates.
