WESTPORT, Mass (WPRI) — Police are looking for the person who was caught on camera stealing stones off of a wall outside a Wesport home.

The alleged incident happened in early morning hours on Saturday, Oct. 13 in South Westport, down by the entrance to the family-owned Bakers Beach.

The homeowners say this is the third time rocks have been stolen off this wall. After the first two thefts, they cemented down the rocks and a installed a surveillance camera, which captured the third incident.

Surveillance video shows a man pulling his car up to the wall and getting out with a flashlight and crowbar in hand. The man is then seen examining the wall and using the crowbar to pry off the stones, putting them in his trunk.

The suspect drove away in a dark-colored sedan. The homeowners are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to call Westport police at (508) 636-1122.
