Taunton man drowns in Plymouth pond


PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WPRI) – Massachusetts State Police are investigating after a 69-year-old Taunton man drowned Sunday morning.

Troopers from the State Police Bourne Barracks responded to reports of a drowning at Curlew Pond in Myles Standish State Forest just after 11 a.m.

The victim had been taken out of the water and CPR was being administered before troopers arrived on scene, according to a press release from Massachusetts State Police.

Witnesses say the victim was not wearing a life vest when he was pulled out of the water.

The victim was transported to Beth Israel Hospital in Plymouth, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

This drowning incident is now under investigation by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Massachusetts State Police troopers responded to the scene, with help from the Massachusetts Environmental Police, Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire Department, and EMS Departments.
