Taunton man arrested on drugs, firearm, driving charges

TAUNTON, M.A. (WPRI) — While conducting an investigation on summer street in Taunton, state police pulled over a male in possession of heroin and a firearm.

According to Massachusetts State Police, Hector Rodriguez, 29, of Taunton, was placed under arrest for trafficking heroin, using a firearm while committing a felony, operating with a suspended or revoked registration, as well as two other moving violations.

Police were searching for a suspect who assaulted an officer earlier in the day on Wednesday, but Rodriguez was not that suspect.

Police chased Rodriguez in his vehicle after he took off when police first attempted to speak with him.

Rodriguez has been held at the Bristol County Jailhouse on $25,000 dollars bail, pending an arraignment in Taunton District Court.
