Stop & Shop recalls caramel apples

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Stop & Shop is recalling caramel apples because of peanut allergy concerns.

The supermarket chain announced Saturday that it is removing Tastee Caramel Apples from sale after the manufacturer, Tastee Apple, Inc., indicated that the products may contain peanuts, which are not listed on the ingredient labels.

People with peanut allergies could suffer serious symptoms if they consume peanut products.

Specifically, the product is the 3 oz. Tastee Caramel Apple, with a best-by date of 9/29/15 and a UPC of 3526600027.Anyone who purchased the product should throw it away and bring their receipt to a Stop & Shop store for a refund.
