State working to fix technical issues with HealthSource RI website

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The state of Rhode Island has discovered new problems with its upgraded benefits eligibility system that launched last week.

As Call 12 for Action has reported, the state has had problems with EBT cards and employee logins. Now, technical problems are making it impossible for some customers to make changes to their accounts on the HealthSource RI website.

A spokesperson for the organization said Thursday that the state is working to diagnose and address the issues.

Cindy Tenorio said her health insurance is a matter of life and death. She recently got a new job and no longer qualifies for Medicaid, but she was unable to buy health insurance through HealthSource RI.

“They’re having ‘minor’ glitches. My life is not minor,” she said. “I need my insulin or I’m literally going to end up in the hospital in a coma or dead.”

Call 12 for Action intervened and was able to ensure that Tenorio’s new insurance plan will begin right in time for her to pick up her monthly insulin supply.

In the meantime, the state has resolved its issues with EBT cards.
