State Reps: Let court rule on 38 Studios docs

News

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Two state lawmakers want a judge to decide whether or not to release the documents used in the 38 Studios investigation.

According to a news release Tuesday, Reps. David Coughlin (D-Pawtucket) and Robert Craven (D-North Kingstown) have asked Attorney General Peter Kilmartin to seek a Superior Court ruling on the legality of making the documents public.

“[R]egardless of criminal charges or not, the public deserves to know exactly how their hard earned money was squandered,” Coughlin said.

Since announcing last month that the years-long investigation into 38 studios would result in no criminal charges, Kilmartin has faced growing pressure to release material used in the probe.
