PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — While a lot of businesses see a slow down during the winter months, one local restaurant says the recent round of snow storms has been particularly difficult.
“Winter weather has an enormous impact on our business,” Bob Burke, owner of Pot Au Feu told Eyewitness News. “This year has been the worst February in years.”
Burke says the recent weather has cost his business thousands of dollars.
The winter storms have impacted more than just the restaurant’s bottom line. When there aren’t enough customers, some restaurants tell their employees to stay home, resulting in a loss of pay.
“I actually was called out last week when we had the snowstorm. I was told not to come in because no one was coming in and all the businesses had to shut down,” Claire Compton explained. “I’m a college student, so I kind of rely on every single day to come in to pay my rent and utilities. So it’s kind of hard.
Employees at the restaurant are hoping business holds steady with more snow expected in the days ahead.
