SCITUATE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Scituate school department will be making grief counseling available in the wake of a tragic dirt bike accident that claimed the life of a student on Saturday.

The superintendent sent out an email to parents and teachers alerting them to the loss of rising ninth grade student Jared Carpenter.

Superintendent Carol Blanchette wrote, “I know that you will join me in expressing deepest sympathy and condolences to the Carpenter family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they go through this difficult time.”

Counselors will be on hand in the middle school cafeteria on Monday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Parents, students, faculty, staff and community members are all welcome to stop by for support.

There’s also a GoFundMe page set up for a memorial fund.
