NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University men’s ice hockey forward Evan Schmidbauer has earned the Rookie of the Week award for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast.
Schmidbauer was an integral part of Salve Regina’s 3-2 victory over Wentworth on January 31. Schmidbauer assisted on the Seahawks’ first goal of the game, before scoring the game-winner at 11:10 of the third period to help lift Salve Regina to the victory over the Leopards.
Junior forward Marc Biggs (Plano, Texas) also made honor roll for the second time this season. Biggs scored a power play goal to spark Salve Regina to a three-goal third period in a comeback win versus Johnson & Wales and assisted on Evan Schmidbauer’s game-winning goal against Wentworth.
Schmidbauer joins Pat Thompson (January 6, 2015) and Evan Schultz (November 4, 2014) as Seahawks receiving the ECAC rookie of the week honor.
