Route 10 reopens after serious overnight crash

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rescue crews were on the scene of a serious highway crash Friday morning.

The crash involved two cars and happened just after 4:30 a.m. on Route 10 South near the Elmwood Avenue exit.

The highway was closed for more than two hours but reopened around 7 a.m.

At least two ambulances were spotted leaving the scene.

State Police confirmed two people were taken to Rhode Island Hospital, one with serious injuries. They have not said what may have caused the crash.
