PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Fire officials say no one was hurt Wednesday evening as the roof of a three-story home in South Providence caved in during a fire.
According to Battalion Chief Stephen Houle, crews arrived on Providence Street to find the third floor fully involved.
Firefighters found no one inside during a search of the first and second floors but were forced to evacuate before they could get up to the third floor.

Houle said no one had been living inside the home, which was undergoing “extensive rehab,” and he wasn’t aware of anyone being inside when the fire broke out.
The only complication, according to Houle, was having to deal with the cold.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
