RIDOT eyeing July 4 ferry service to Bristol

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — People may have the option to travel to Bristol’s Fourth of July celebration on the Providence to Newport ferry this year.

A schedule posted on a sandwich board at the Perrotti Park ferry terminal Saturday advertised stops in Bristol on July 4. Ferry operator Seastreak also has the schedule on its website, though tickets are not yet available.

RIDOT spokesman Charles St. Martin said Monday that the department and Seastreak were seeking approval from the Public Utilities Commission for trips to Bristol on July 4, but nothing is official just yet.

“We’ll announce it when it’s final – hopefully soon,” he said.
