Retired Cranston police, firefighters appeal to RI Supreme Court

News

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) – A group of retired police and firefighters are taking their fight against Cranston pension reforms to the state’s highest court.

Last week, a Superior Court judge struck down a civil lawsuit filed by a group of about 75 retired police officers and firefighters who opted out of a 2012 deal to temporarily trim retirement benefits.

Eyewitness News has confirmed that the plaintiffs plan to appeal the decision to the Rhode Island Supreme Court.
