CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A male seal was released back into the wild Thursday – after more than a month of care from Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Team.

Horseradish, a gray male seal, was returned to the sea at Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown.

Horseradish was rescued by the Marine Mammals of Maine on September 1 because he became entangled in debris. The seal, now about 8-months old, also needed treatment for parasites.

When he was rescued, Horseradish weighed about 57-pounds, according to Mystic. On Thursday, he weighed in around 62-pounds.
