Rehabbed seal released at Charlestown beach

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — After a stay with Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Team, a young harbor seal has been released back into the wild.

Poppy, a 1-year-old female seal, was released at Blue Shutter Beach in Charlestown Thursday, after two months of care at Mystic’s Animal Rescue Clinic.

When rescued in Providencetown, Mass., Poppy required treatment for dehydration, several puncture wounds, and a large wound on her head that damaged her nasal passages.

According to the aquarium, Poppy gained over eight pounds during her stay.
