BOSTON (WPRI) — The Boston Red Sox announced Tuesday they have canceled Tuesday’s David Ortiz bobblehead giveaway because the items were not up to par.

The team was planning to give a Big Papi bobblehead to the first 15,000 fans at the game.

According to a statement from the team on Twitter, the items were “unacceptable to the club and not appropriate for distribution.” A reason why was not immediately given.

The team has vowed to issue new bobbleheads “to all ticketed fans at a later date.”
