PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) – Rhode Islanders will soon have more options to “go green” for their energy sources.

Governor Gina Raimondo signed several renewable energy measures into law at the Newport Vineyards in Middletown Thursday morning.

These measures will offer tax incentives for those using solar power. For those who do not have the space or money for their own solar arrays, the bill includes a “community solar” program which lets people jointly finance a solar plan, and get credit for the electricity it produces.

More jobs will be created too, because Solar City, a company that specializes in rooftop solar panels, says it will launch a new hiring push at its offices in Coventry.
