Providence Police investigating three robberies hours apart

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Providence Police are investigating three robberies that happened just hours apart.

The first happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday night on Plainfield St. Investigators say two men entered the Irving gas station and stole about $250 from the store.

At least one suspect was carrying what is described as a black assault type weapon. The suspects left the scene on foot and police are still looking for them

The second incident happened on Dexter Street around midnight.

Police say three teens assaulted and robbed a man of his cell phone and wallet, then took off in a vehicle.

Investigators were able to stop a vehicle matching the description a short time later in the same area.

The 16-year-old driver tried to take off from the scene, but was quickly caught by police. The passengers, identified as a 16, 18 and 19-year-old, were also arrested.

The third robbery happened around 2 a.m. at the Shell gas station on Narragansett Blvd.

The suspect, described as a masked man with a gun, approached the clerk and demanded money. He took off with about $85 and cigarettes. 

Police are still looking for the suspect in that robbery.
