Providence police investigating shots fired incident and a crash


PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Providence police are investigating a shots fired incident and a crash. Both incidents that are believed to be related. 

Officials say a vehicle had been identified as being involved in a shots fired incident on Bodell Avenue, then drove off from the scene.

After a brief pursuit, police lost the vehicle, but were able to find it a short time later after it crashed on Moorefield Street.

A witness told police that the people got out of the vehicle and took off from the scene.

According to the witness, the occupants tried to remove the license plate from the vehicle first, but were not able to.

Police are still looking for the driver of the vehicle and still trying to determine if that person was the one responsible for the shooting, or the person being shot at. 

Police are still investigating the incident.
