PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The cause of fire in the capital city Wednesday night remains under investigation.

An Eyewitness News crew was there as firefighters put out a fire to a home on Raphael Avenue.

According to officials, two people live at the home but were not there at the time of the fire. They also said the building is now uninhabitable.

Most of the damage was done to the living room.

Providence Fire Capt. Jack Devlin confirmed Thursday it was not a Christmas tree fire, and said the cause is still being investigated.
