PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A teacher at two Providence high schools is now being investigated for allegations of inappropriate conduct against students.

The school district put the male teacher at 360 High School and Juanita Sanchez High School on administrative leave on May 2 due to student allegations of inappropriate conduct, according to Laura Hart, a spokesperson for the Providence Public Schools.

The allegations have been reported to the Department of Children, Youth and Families per existing protocols, Hart said Monday afternoon. The Providence Police Department is also investigating.

Hart said the teacher has been employed in the district for 16 years.

Eyewitness News continues to pursue and gather more details about the allegations. At last check, the teacher had not been criminally charged.
